“It’s not about how hard you can hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving

My name is Jasmine Billups and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#9386) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). I received my Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University of Phoenix in 2011 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Relations, from North Carolina Central University in 2008.
I have been practicing therapy for over 10 years. My experience in mental health includes residential treatment with adolescents, outpatient therapy with young children, adolescents, and adults. I have also provided group therapy for young children, adolescents, and parents (birth, adopted, and Therapeutic Foster Care). I have over 8 years of experience providing evidenced based treatments to troubled youth and families in various states across the country. I find great joy in what I do and feel privileged to help people through their journey in life. I welcome clients of all ages and all walks of life. I have experience addressing life stress, mood disorders, depression and anxiety, life transition and stressors in the adult population and find great joy in working with those clients as well as children and adolescents. My approach to therapy is strength based and person centered to meet the individualized needs of every client that I work with. As a Registered Play Therapist and a Level I Theraplay Practitioner, I work with young children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families to process traumatic experiences, improve emotion regulation, address challenges with defiance and impulsivity, and assisting with attachment and relationship building. Play therapy and Theraplay are evidenced based models that have proven outcomes in working with young children and clients that have experienced traumatic upbringing inclusive of being raised in blended and foster/adopted families. I have also been trained to administer EMDR, a treatment that is empirically supported in treating trauma. In my free time I enjoy traveling, reading, eating (I’m a big foodie!), spending time with family and friends, playing with my dog Bleu, and as a former multiple sport college athlete- staying fit of course!
