My name is Dr. Kelley and I am the owner and supervisor at Kelley Counseling and Wellness. I earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from Capella University in January of 2017 along with a Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling from Nazareth College of Rochester in 2005 where I interned in both an adult psychiatric setting and an adolescent day treatment program.
I have worked in schools, outdoor therapy camps, day treatment programs and an outpatient methadone clinic serving adults treating addiction and mental illness. I acquired my license as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC #7483), in 2009 as well as a certificate as a trained hypnotist in September, 2014 (HMI Institute) and have been trained to administer EMDR in 2017. I am a Registered Art Therapist, ATR # 17-530 as well as a Registered Yoga Teacher and use Yoga to assist in the treatment of mental health disorders with a focus on trauma recovery in the body. I have been trained in Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Restorative Yoga and utilize a Brain-Body Centered approach with yoga and therapy. I am also a certified Y12SR leader, helping those working the 12 steps to address addiction and recovery issues and relapse prevention through yoga. I am also a Certified Meditation Teacher and teach meditation techniques to individuals and groups as well as have free guided meditations available on my teacher channel on Insight Timer. In addition I am a trained HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) therapist. You can learn more about HSP's by following the assessment on our homepage asking "Am I a highly sensitive person?". In my doctoral program I studied the effect of exercise on adult ADHD symptoms. I have 15 years of experience utilizing Art Therapy and Counseling with children, adolescents and teens, their families and adults with mental health and substance abuse diagnosis, LGBTQ issues, anxiety, personality disorders, depression, PTSD, obsessive behaviors and disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, Methadone Maintenance and Suboxone Therapies, anger management issues, marital stress or divorce and transitional life stress. I provide individual, couples and family counseling. When I am not at work I enjoy; writing, reading, playing guitar, singing, yoga, photography, exercise, travel, movies, camping, hiking, cooking and most importantly spending time with friends and family.
