“Not all those who wander are lost”

My name is Kristen Poppe. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate who aims to provide a safe and welcoming space for individuals to challenge complex issues and to help foster healthy, functioning lives. I hold two Master’s degrees, one in Developmental Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and the other in Clinical Mental Health Counseling/Addiction and Rehabilitation Specialties from East Carolina University.
I take a holistic approach with individuals and the group setting, identifying the mind and body connection that takes place and focusing both on somatic and cognitive frameworks. I strongly believe that people are the experts in their own lives and that through a working and safe relationship, adaptive coping skills and goals, treatment needs can be approached and worked through. I have a strong passion in working with people who suffer from anxiety and/or depression, various substance abuse issues, the LGBTQIA+ population, life and transitional changes, and those with dynamic family issues, specifically working with folks on the developmental birth order and roles in the family systems. Although my approach in therapy is Person-Centered in nature, models that I utilize are not limited to: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I feel that the pillars of therapy are founded on genuine curiosity, empathy and understanding of the individual. I’m honored that you have included me in this chapter of your mental health/life journey, and I look forward to navigating this process with you.
