“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” — Anais Nin
My name is Julia and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Direct Practice from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work in May 2018.
During graduate school, I had the opportunity to work at a residential eating disorder treatment program, which introduced me to eating disorder treatment. Since then I’ve gained spcialized experience providing individual, group, and family therapy to both adolescents and adults with eating disorders at the inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization levels of care. In addition to eating disorders and related concerns like body image issues, I have experience working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, self harm and other compulsive behaviors, as well as relationship issues, life transitions, and identity exploration.
In order to provide individualized treatment, I combine elements of CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques, as well as strategies to help clients increase their sense of embodiment. I bring empathy, non-judgement, genuineness, and humor to the room in hopes of creating a supportive therapeutic relationship where you can be yourself and know that you are not alone.
When I’m not at work, I like to write, read, listen to music, be outside, spend time with friends and family, and of course make sure my dog Swiss is happy and spoiled.
