"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf". Jon Kabat-Zinn
My name is Christy Horne and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (license #C010384). I earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University in 2014 and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Human Services from Peace College in 2011. My graduate level internship experience includes working in a non-profit community mental health agency where I conducted cognitive behavior therapy groups, and working with college students at NC State University providing alcohol screenings, assessments, and intervention.
My professional history includes working in the field of eating disorders at a residential treatment center, providing in-home therapy and housing case management with adults who were formerly homeless and living with a persistent mental illness, and outpatient therapy and psychological assessments with adults at a non-profit community mental health agency.
I enjoy working with adults, teens, and adolescents who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, family dynamics, anger, relationship concerns, school/work stressors, and unhealthy communication patterns.
I use a variety of therapies, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior therapy techniques.
When not at work, I enjoy being in nature as much as possible, hiking our local state parks, yoga, Carolina basketball, and spending time with friends and family.
