C. Shawn Taylor, M.Ed, LPCA
"As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being." -Carl Jung
My name is Shawn Taylor and I am a three-time graduate of Campbell University, first earning my B.S. in Psychology in May 2005, my M.Ed. in Interdisciplinary Studies in May 2010, and then my M.Ed. in School Counseling in May 2016. I became a Licensed School Counselor in August 2014 (#1149804) and a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in March 2016 (#A12196). I will complete hypnotherapy certification through the National Guild of Hypnotist in May 2017.
I previously served as the Director for Community Living and Standards at Campbell University, and then spent 5+ years counseling in Harnett County schools. During this time, I gained experience working with military families regarding their transition to and from active duty. I also gained experience preparing teens and young adults with their transition into careers and/or higher education. I have experience providing therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and families regarding social, emotional, academic and developmental concerns. I am also clinically trained to work with adults and couples regarding anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, divorce, marital, and intimacy issues. I am especially passionate about working with the LGBTQ population regarding acceptance and rejection, social bias and advocacy, relationship issues, and sexual health and mental wellness. I incorporate a variety of counseling techniques into my practice, including solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, hypnotherapy, art and music therapy, mindfulness and meditation.
During my time off, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, especially my husband, Kyle, and my two dogs, Sasha and Winston.
